NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the rape of a 22-year-old woman in Nashville.

Metro Nashville police said Thursday morning that 25-year-old Devon T. Gooden was arrested at his 11th Avenue South residence and charged with aggravated rape in connection with the attack.

The incident happened on February 21 in the parking garage at the Note 16 Apartments on Horton Avenue, in the Edgehill neighborhood.

Police said the suspect followed a woman into an elevator, where he repeatedly sexually assaulted her. He had been lurking near the entrance for nearly an hour, investigators said.

He allegedly took her wallet and keys and left in her car. He left the vehicle minutes away at the Edgehill Library next to a public housing complex.

Police said Gooden is also charged in three robbery cases for crimes against separate women in their 20s.
