The search for a gunman got underway in west Nashville after a teenager was shot multiple times while walking home.
According to officers with Metro Nashville Police, the shooting happened late Thursday night. The call came in around 10 p.m. from an area along 40th Avenue North.
Police said the teen was walking home from a neighborhood market when another man approached him and demanded his belongings.
At some point, the teen was shot four times.
From there, he ran to a friend's house for help. A crew with the Nashville Fire Department ended up taking him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he's expected to recover.
Police said the teen also had a gun in his waistband, but the suspect got away with it.
At this point, no suspect description was available.
