Thieving Couple Burglarize Bathing Woman In Bedford County

Deputies in Bedford County have asked for the public's help in finding a couple of thieves so brazen that they stole from a woman while she took a shower.

The duo is wanted in four counties, stretching from Winchester to Murfreesboro.

It started at the Beechgrove Market last week, when the Bedford County Sheriff's Office said someone broke into a truck parked there and stole a tablet left inside, along with a briefcase.

That briefcase contained the home address of the theft victim.

Yet, instead of stopping, Bedford County deputies said the suspects took that address and drove to it on Thursday -- a home off of Sarvis Ridge Road in Normandy.

The two then broke into the home, while a woman was still inside, taking a shower.

Deputies said they then stole credit cards and a checkbook from inside the home.

The spree didn't stop there. The couple cashed one of the stolen checks at a bank in Winchester for $1,000, and they went to a Jared jewelry store in Murfreesboro where they made a $3,000 purchase with the stolen credit card.

The Bedford County Sheriff said he wouldn't be surprised if drugs were involved in the string of brazen thefts and fraud.

“Unfortunately, in our society we have a lot of people addicted to drugs, and [theft] is an opportunity. If the opportunity is there, unfortunately they're going to take advantage of it,” said Bedford County Sheriff Austin Swing.

Deputies said the couple may be driving a red van, and they said the man has several tattoos across his neck, including a name.
