NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Highway Patrol is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who vandalized a statue at the State Capitol.

The Edward Carmack Statue on the Motlow Tunnel entrance was torn down in a destructive protest in downtown Nashville on May 30. Carmack was a newspaper editor in Nashville and Memphis in the late 1800s, who historians say endorsed the lynchings of Black men trying to establish a grocery store in a Memphis neighborhood.

On Monday, Aug. 31, THP officials released photos of two people believed to be responsible for the vandalism. The asked for the public's help in their efforts to identify and find believed suspects.

Anyone with information on the two people pictured above was asked to call THP Criminal Investigations Division at 615-251-5185 with attention to Sgt. Andrew Naylor.
