NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police arrest two men in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed a Madison woman last Friday.

The shooting happened in the 100 block of Cumberland Avenue. Metro police say 24-year-olds David A. Watkins and Christopher M. Ferguson are charged with criminal homicide in the shooting death of 26-year-old Kayla Phillips-Coker.

Police say Watkins fired shots toward Phillips-Coker because he had an ongoing dispute with her boyfriend, who was believed to have been the intended target.

According to police, Ferguson admitted that he was driving the vehicle at the time.

Phillips-Coker was struck in the abdomen and taken to Skyline Medical Center where she died.

Police say Watkins is registered as an ex-con for burglary in February. He was held on a $101,000 bond. Ferguson also remains jailed.
