BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WTVF) — A vigil was held Friday night to honor Brentwood Police Officer Destin Legieza, who was killed in a crash while on-duty.
The vigil was Fellowship Bible Church located on Franklin Road. A large crowd of family, friends and community members attended the vigil. They prayed, sang worship songs and remembered Officer Legieza.

Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers said Legieza was killed Thursday morning on Franklin Road when his police SUV was hit by a driver who crossed the center line. He is the first Brentwood Police officer to be killed in the line of duty in the department's 50-year history.
Police said Legieza, who had been with the department for five years, is survived by his wife. His father and grandfather were also in law enforcement.
A funeral will be held at Clearview Baptist Church on Franklin Road in Franklin.
Visitation: Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Service: Wednesday at 2 p.m.
A procession will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Williamson Memorial to Clearview Baptist and will pass by the Brentwood Police Department.
