A woman has died nearly two weeks after shots were fired into her South Nashville home.

The shooting happened in the 4100 block of Providence Park Lane around 12:45 a.m. on October 13.

Officials with Metro Nashville police said Savitri Lyons was lying on a couch inside her home when shots were fired at the house. The 48-year-old was struck and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Seven others, including five juveniles, were in the home at the time of the incident. None of them were hurt.

Officers discovered multiple shell casings in the roadway, and the home had been hit by several rounds.

Police said shots were also fired into the home just before midnight on September 29. No one was injured then.

It’s unclear why this particular home was targeted. The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
