Metro police said a woman was killed after she was hit by a vehicle in downtown Nashville on Saturday night.

The woman, identified as 67-year-old Marilyn Zindel of Melbourne, Florida, stepped out of a golf cart that pulled to the curb in front of the Homewood Suites hotel on Church Street when she was hit by a dark-colored SUV. Police said the SUV drove away after hitting Zindel.

She was taken to Vanderbilt hospital and later pronounced dead.

Metro police said the collision appears to be due to the driver's recklessness. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
