NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Yazoo Brewing Company opened their new location in Madison on Friday after spending nine years in The Gulch.
“We loved being downtown in the Gulch, but that area had gotten so built up that we kind of saw the writing on the wall,” Linus Hall, founder and owner of Yazoo Brewing Company said. “Trying to back 18-wheelers in off of Division Street without running over a pedal tavern and a few other things is getting to be pretty hard.”
Yazoo’s new location in Madison is about twice the size of their location in The Gulch, and it’s the first time that Yazoo has been produced in a facility that was actually made for beer production, as their first location before The Gulch was in the Marathon Motor Works building.
“It’s nice to not be trying to convert an old warehouse or even an old car factory into a brewery,” Hall explained. “You turn off of Myatt Drive and you’ve got this beautiful 6-acre property that overlooks the Cumberland River, but still has easy access for trucks to get in and out to get to our distributors.”
Yazoo Brewing Company was originally founded as Nashville’s first production brewery since prohibition, and to this day, they focus on distribution, sending their beer to different parts of Tennessee, Mississippi, and South Carolina.
The new facility will allow them to expand their distribution, so they can not just produce more beer, but send it to more places around the country if they choose to do so.
The new facility is also large enough to where they can accommodate canning, which will be the first time that Yazoo has ever put their beer in cans for distribution.
“Cans have gotten to be the growth engine for a lot of the craft beer industry, but we never had space at our old location to add the equipment and really feel like we could do a good job with it,” Hall said.
Yazoo will still put beer in their signature bottles, but now that they have a new location, they’ve upgraded their bottles by getting bottles made custom for the Brewery that have their logo, name, and location molded into the bottle itself.
Beyond distribution, Hall is excited for people to experience the Madison location first hand.
“We’re just really excited to be part of a neighborhood again, and hopefully the people that come here have a great experience drinking our beer and taking a tour,” Hall said, adding that the new location has significantly more parking, a brand new taproom, and a large porch. “We used to have a large group of regulars that we called our ‘Yazooligans,’ and they always said, ‘hey, I hate that I haven’t been down there in a while, but it just got so hard to find a place to park, it was so crowded, and I’m really excited that you’re going to be out in Madison because now I can actually come back and visit.’”
Yazoo Brewing Company will be open seven days a week at their new location, 900 River Bluff Dr, Madison, TN 37115.
