Homecoming week officially got underway at Tennessee State University.
The week kicked off Sunday with an Oratorical Contest in the Floyd-Payne Campus Center.
This year marked the school's 104th homecoming.
The theme was designated as ”celebrating a legacy of pride and progress,” something many said embodies the true meaning of TSU’s homecoming.
“We are definitely celebrating the theme in its entirety,” said Shante Telfer, Communications Coordinator at TSU. “We are celebrating all things TSU: our pride, our culture, the academia, and what this institution is, as well as celebrating our togetherness and what this institution was built on.”
Activities have been set to continue throughout the week.
The events have been scheduled to culminate Saturday with a parade along Jefferson Street and the football game against Eastern Kentucky University at Nissan Stadium.
