COOPERTOWN, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Department of Transportation says a portion of State Route 49 in Robertson County will be closed this weekend for bridge work.

Starting at 8 p.m. Friday, you will not be able to travel between Pleasant View and Springfield as TDOT crews replace the bridge over Caleb’s Creek.

The road should reopen by Monday morning at 5 a.m.

But in the meantime, if you live in the area you can loop around the closure on Joe Mac Lipscomb Road or Woods Road.

However, this is a major truck route and those local, rural roads are not made to accommodate tractor trailers.

The alternate routes for truckers will take you several miles around the closure. You can use Highway 76 or Whites Creek Pike to travel between I-24 and the Springfield area.

TDOT will post messages on interstate boards to direct you to the alternate routes.

This is the first of two weekend closures for bridges along this route. The next one is scheduled September 6th.
