Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue across the region each afternoon, through the weekend. A few storms will be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.

The greatest risk for stronger storms will be across the Cumberland Plateau, where the Storm Prediction Center has placed the area under a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather both Saturday and Sunday.

While the overall severe threat is low, isolated storms could produce damaging wind gusts and localized flash flooding due to torrential rainfall.

Outside of the storm chances, heat and humidity will continue to build. Highs will climb into the low 90s for many areas through the weekend, with heat index values reaching the low 100s.

A cold front is expected to move through Wednesday of next week, bringing our next big pattern change.
