A cold front has been our big influence this week. It brought heavy rain and storms across the mid-south last night. It's now stalled just to our east, as it continues to bring a few showers lingering this evening across the Plateau. Rainfall totals should stay relatively low but there could be an isolated storm with heavier showers.

As the front slowly drifts south, drier air will continue filtering into the region. Dew points have already dropped significantly behind the front, making the air feel noticeably less humid. Cloud cover will also help keep afternoon temperatures cooler than recent days, with highs reaching the mid to upper 80s.
Thursday looks to be one of the nicest days of the week with mostly dry conditions, lower humidity and afternoon highs in the low to mid 80s.

It doesn't last long. Moisture surges from the Gulf Friday night and Saturday, bringing more widespread chances for showers and thunderstorms. The overall severe risk is very low, but flooding is a concern since it's been a soggy July so far.
