NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Second cold front swings through tonight and this is the meanest one of the bunch.
Temps in the teens by daybreak with windchills near or even below zero along out TN/Ky tier.
The cold front will also bring a chance for some flurries and brief light snow showers for areas North of I-40 between 11pm-4am. No significant accumulations are expected, but a quick dusting is possible. With such a cold air mass in place and roads well below freezing whatever snowflakes do fall will have no trouble sticking. Some folks may get closer to an inch along our extreme Northern tier, hence the Winter Weather Advisory for those counties through 1am Wednesday. Patchy slick spots will be possible in the morning, but the bigger threat/concern remains the very cold air.
Temperatures will be colder Wednesday than they were Tuesday. We'll top out in the middle 20s Wednesday with even colder temperatures expected overnight into Thursday morning. The wind won't be as strong Thursday morning, but with temperatures down to around 10 it'll be another bitter start to the day. Thankfully we warm into the weekend with Saturday, Groundhog Day, looking delightful.
