An East Nashville home was the target of two attempted burglars in one day, and it was all caught on camera.
It happened at a home in a neighborhood behind Riverside Village on Halloween day.
At 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, when Jess Arnold's roommate heard a stir coming from the back of the home they live in, she went to check it out. When she saw two people trying to pry open a sliding window, she pulled out her camera and started recording. When the roommate called Arnold's name, the pair looked through the window and then ran off.
Then at 6 p.m., the same roommate heard three more people walking through the backyard. They approached a back window and one of them reached a hand in. When the roommate let the would-be burglars know she was there, they ran off.
"They didn't seem like they were afraid," said Arnold. "They didn't seem like they were trying to hide themselves. They were just so sure that they could get in because they had done it before and they were just going to keep doing it."
The roommate called police, who were able to apprehend a teenage girl.
The home was targeted twice before, according to Arnold. She said it started about six months ago.
"We had a break in, we kind of just thought we were unlucky and that would be that," she said. "Then about two weeks about we had another break in. They stole two computers this time. Again, just kind of thought we were unlucky and that would be the worst of it."
Arnold, her husband and roommate all share the home. She said none of them feel safe with all of the activity happening at the house. She hoped with the recent arrest, they will be left alone.
"I don't know if I care really so much about people getting in trouble, I just want my house to feel safe. I want to be able to go to sleep at night and not worry about waking up to people opening my windows," Arnold said.
