NASHVILLE, Tenn — Neighbors say they watched a woman hit two kids as she backed out of a parking spot at a Bordeaux apartment complex on Sunday night,
That woman is now behind bars charged with vehicular homicide after killing one of the boys she allegedly hit.
It happened at the Overlook Ridge Apartments on Buena Vista Pike.
"The car’s going down that way, and all of a sudden we hear screaming in the car going back and forward back and forward," said Demarcus Boone, a neighbor.
Police say 28-year-old Ebony Robinson was likely drunk when she backed over two children, 9-year-old Chrishon Montgomery and 7-year old Cayden Doctor.
Neighbors said Robinson hit the children several times, but Chrishon was able to push Cayden out of the way.
The neighbors said one of the children may have been teasing another child that Robinson knew. But they added that’s absolutely no excuse.
"There's nothing a child can do to justify that," Boone said. "There’s nothing on this planet a child can do to justify that. It's just inhumane. It’s inhumane."
Neighbors said Chrishon had two older sisters, whom he looked after, even as the younger brother.
