NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — August marks the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote.
Tennessee was the 36th state to ratify the amendment. To celebrate, cities across the country rang bells in celebration, but Nashville did not.
But now, NewsChannel 5 and the Nashville Public Library want to change that. As part of next month’s opening of the new Votes for Women room at the library, we are asking folks to ring a bell, any kind of bell, for a cause they care about.
It can be anything, ending domestic violence, equal pay, improving access to quality education - anything they think is important.
If you want to take part in the library’s “Ring the Bell” campaign – it’s easy. Shoot a video, telling us who you are and what you’re ringing a bell for. Be sure to tag NewsChannel 5 and the Nashville Public Library and use the hashtag “I ring the bell."
