NASHVILLE, Tenn. - As thousands of shoppers headed out looking for great deals, retail stores have been facing the toughest competition yet from online retailers like Amazon.
Now more than ever, retail stores have been doing everything they can, offering in store deals and cash back, battling with online retailers for holiday spending money.
Still, for most of the shoppers NewsChannel 5 talked to, especially those at the front of the long lines, the wait for the door busters has been a tradition as timeless as the Thanksgiving turkey.
"I like to shop, you know coming out here, standing out, meeting people," said Erin Williams.
For those who hit the malls, here's when some of them opened on Black Friday:
- Opry Mills will open at 7 a.m.
- RiverGate will open at 6 a.m.
- Cool-Springs Galleria will open at 6 a.m.
- The Mall at Green Hills will open at 8 a.m.
