NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Interstate 24 is back open, after flooding closed the road for sevaral hours.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation closed I-24 East at Haywood Lane (MM 57) due to flooding, but it has since reopened. Several feet of deep water were seen on Interstate 24 between Exit 57 (Haywood Lane) and Exit 60 (Hickory Hollow) around 10:30 a.m. as heavy rains moved across the area.
Water rescues have been taking place across parts of Middle Tennessee on Sunday.
A Flash Flood Watch is out for this area until 7 p.m. An additional 2-3 inches of rain with locally higher amounts up to 4-5" could be possible through the afternoon.
That was just one of many trouble areas on Sunday. Several feet of water covered blue hole road near Antioch Pike around Noon, and Bell Road was also underwater.
