Levi Ismail is an Emmy award-winning journalist with NewsChannel 5’s prestigious investigative unit and has built a reputation as one of the industry’s leading digital storytellers. Known for using short and long-form video to break down complex stories, Levi has become a trusted voice for audiences across Nashville and beyond.
His innovative approach to journalism earned him the inaugural award of Nashville’s Best TikTok Reporter and Best TikTok Page (Nashville News), while his work across television and digital platforms has helped strengthen NewsChannel 5’s connection with viewers. Levi has also helped dozens of fellow journalists develop their own successful social media presence.
As an investigative reporter, Levi recently earned an Emmy award for exposing failures in Tennessee’s bond conditions for domestic violence cases. His reporting contributed to new laws that expanded the use of GPS monitoring as a bond requirement in more domestic violence cases.
Born in Cairo, Egypt, to a family with roots in South Sudan, Levi immigrated to Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. He also played four years of football for the Tommies. If he’s not producing content for his Nashville News TikTok, there’s a good chance he’s checking out any number of Nashville’s best restaurants.
