NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The search continues. On Thursday, TBI special agents continued to clear brush, dig and look for Joe Clyde Daniels' remains.

They’ve been at it now for a week. But, today they discovered they were not alone. Jake Lockert the attorney for Joseph Daniels made a surprise appearance at the grandparent’s home in Dickson County, Tennessee to see what was going on.

You need to know this: Lockert’s client Joseph is charged with killing his son Joe Clyde. Lockert tells me he came on business of his own to meet with Joe Clyde’s grandmother at the home. But he also observed what the TBI is doing before he was asked to leave the investigative scene.

Not long after a sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene and blocked the driveway. Lockert told Newschannel 5’s Nick Beres he believes a neighbor contacted the TBI to report what looked like suspicious activity on the property after a storm a few weeks ago.

“It was nothing nefarious. The grandfather was not moving a body. He was cleaning up,” Lockert said.

"They're doing their job," Lockert said. "They have to act on any lead that they get. If in fact a neighbor saw cleaning up after a storm, which is what the search warrant is based on, they have to act on the search warrant, they have to be thorough. I anticipate they'll take their time digging for any kind of evidence they can find."

Lockert also says they may find bones, but they won’t be human. “No, back in this area is where the family buried pets. They won’t find human remains.”

Lockert and his staff also spent time measuring the property and road line as part of their defense strategy ... tracking Joe Clyde’s possible movements the night he disappeared.

The TBI search is expected to run at least through the end of the week.
