NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — People in the North Nashville community don't want to be forgotten during this time.

Senator Brenda Gilmore and Representative Harold Love will call for action focusing on one of the city's historic African American neighborhoods. At 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6, the group will meet at Lee Chapel AME Church.

“Natural disasters do not discriminate and we must ensure that our public institutions deliver an equitable response to families in need, regardless of property values or ZIP codes,” Sen. Gilmore said.

In the meantime, Love has been using his church as a make-shift emergency response center for the community. Volunteers will be out here again Friday.

If you want to donate, they are in need of flashlights and batteries.
