Nikki-Dee Ray

NewsChannel 5 Meterologist

Meteorologist Nikki-Dee Ray can be seen weekdays on Middle Tennessee’s number one morning show, News Channel 5 This Morning. The Tennessee Valley native attended Auburn University and Mississippi State University where she graduated with a B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences.

She began her career in Lubbock, TX where she soon became the nation’s youngest female chief meteorologist. Nikki-Dee led a team of Texas meteorologists through numerous severe weather events, was awarded “Best Local TV Weathercaster” in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, she moved to Richmond, VA and immediately made an impact in the community. Nikki-Dee was named Style Weekly’s “Best Meteorologist” each year between 2016-2019 among other community awards. She has won many Emmys, awards, and recognitions, but she known by her viewing audiences for her forecasting accuracy, style, personality, and faith. To her, what is most important is being a trusted, reliable, and active member of her community.

While she has always been passionate about weather, even working as a “Kid Caster” at WHNT in Huntsville as a child, what she is most passionate about is serving her community, educating children on weather and fostering excitement about STEM, and advocating for those with special abilities. She strives to be accessible and available to her community so that she can help make a difference at the end of the day.

She met her husband, David, in Richmond on July 4th and it is still their favorite holiday. Together they have two children and spend most weekends making memories with them and their family in the area. If out and about, you can expect to find Nikki-Dee and David catching some live country music, trying new restaurants (especially those with great southern cooking!), or enjoying some fresh air by any body of water they can find.
